YOUCA Action Day
About 15,000 teenagers skipped school on Thursday 17 October for a just world. They chose a company they wanted to join for YOUCA Action Day. We welcomed Elena to our branch in Arendonk. Take a look at her day.
A day in the life of Elena
"My workday at Smulders started at 7:30am. I began in the HR department. After a brief introduction, I could get straight to work. I had to scan various documents and place them in the corresponding folders. Afterwards, I continued working on an Excel file.
Later in the morning, I went to the purchasing department. I had to classify various documents by date and supplier.
After lunch, I returned to the HR department. I got to make welcome boxes for new colleagues with fun gadgets. Once I was done with that, I printed some documents and sent them to the necessary insurance companies before filing them.
The workday at Smulders flew by! It was an incredibly great experience, where I learned a lot and enjoyed working on different tasks. A day to remember!"
What is YOUCA Action Day?
About 15,0000 teenagers spend a day working at a company during the YOUCA Action Day. Their wages, € 60 per student, will be donated to an impactful youth project.
This year's project is from KIYO, together with the youth organisation Spring Communities. They are working in Burundi to support the human right to a clean, healthy and sustainable environment.
