 Your tasks 

Design/engineering:

  • You perform analyses and calculations to support the electrical design process.
  • You design and check electrical diagrams for electrical installations.
  • You translate design drawings and specifications supplied by Smulders and customers into:
    • Equipment lists
    • Cable lists
    • PE cable lists
    • Cable ladders
  • You provide advice on selecting the required electric materials.
  • You design the low-voltage power distribution system, encompassing all electrical devices.
  • You prepare the As-Built drawings.
  • You raise Technical Queries (TQs) to clarify the scope and design.
  • You raise Variation Orders (VOR) to report discrepancies between the scope of the design and the contract scope.
  • As part of technical monitoring duties, you liaise with customers, suppliers and subcontractors.

Engineering Support:

  • You provide support during the tender and project implementation phase (procurement, factory acceptance testing, assembly, installation and commissioning).
  • You use your expertise and thorough knowledge of standards in offshore electronics and control instrumentation to provide support to the project team and other involved departments. 
  • You help to find solutions to design issues at offices and production facilities.

Design improvements:

  • You offer tips for optimising designs.
  • You develop standard designs that boost efficiency in the design process.

Testing and inspecting:

  • You write an inspection test plan (ITP) and share this with the customer, quality control inspectors, test engineers and subcontractors.
  • You support the commissioning team at production facilities.

Your magic skills 

  • You have a bachelor’s or master’s degree in a technical subject, plus knowledge of and experience working with electrical installations in the offshore wind industry.
  • You have a good command of English – knowledge of Dutch, French or German is a plus.
  • You work mainly on our site in Arendonk (regular presence on Smulders’ Hoboken site is required).
  • You’re an enterprising team player with a no-nonsense attitude.
  • You’re a creative problem solver who is an expert at their work, as demonstrated by previous experience.
